Please be sure that your flight arrives at the Denver International Airport before 1:30 pm on August 30th. You must pick up your luggage and meet the bus, scheduled to leave for Ranch Camp at 2:30. Flights from most major airports will arrive between 11 and 11:30 a.m., so you should not have a problem. We will provide exact airport meeting place info in early August.
Please note Denver airport is the largest airport in the US by total area, and the second largest airport in the world. It takes a long time to get from gate to baggage pick-up. The hour allotted above is for a reason.
Denver Airport is the hub for several airlines (Frontier airlines, Great Lakes Airlines and United Airlines) as well as a focus city for Southwest Airlines. It should be easy to find a flight to the event.
Please be sure that your flight departs the Denver International Airport after 2:00 p.m. on September 3, 2012. We anticipate that the coach will arrive at the airport around 11:00 a.m. on Sept 3rd, but the airport is huge, and the security line has been known to take more than an hour to get through. After going through security it can take up to 40 minutes to get to your gate.
If you are attending the Pre-Trip, please fly into Denver International Airport on Tuesday, August 28th, and plan your flight to arrive before 12:00 noon. If you have an issue meeting this time, please let Liz know (e.s.friedman@att.net). Flights from most major airports will arrive between 11 and 11:30 a.m., so you should not have a problem. The group transport will depart the airport at 1:30 p.m. We will provide exact airport meeting place info in early August.
If you miss the transportation to the PRE-TRIP, there are a couple ways to get to Boulder (PRE-TRIP ONLY) via public transportation.
The RTD AB bus leaves approximately twenty minutes past each hour.
The detailed schedule is here: http://www3.rtd-denver.com/schedules/getSchedule.action?runboardId=122&routeId=AB&routeType=9&direction=W-Bound&serviceType=3 .
SkyRide buses leave DIA from level 5 -the same level where you pick up your bags. You can board skyRide at one of two locations: lane 3 outside door 506 at the West Terminal or lane 5 outside door 511 at the East Terminal. Just look for the skyRide sign and RTD shelter. Fare to Boulder is $10, and it takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to get to the downtown terminal at 14th and Walnut streets, from which you can take a cab to the hotel (although it is technically walking distance, it might be difficult with luggage).
If you are doing the short version of the Post-Trip, plan to make your return flight after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5th. If you are doing the long version of the Post-Trip, please make your return flight no earlier than 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8th.
NOTE: This year there is ONE price for using the Mosaic Shuttle and it applies to everyone, whether you are doing the Pre-trip, Event only, and/or Post-Trip. the pricing for the pre- and post-trips have been adjusted to include only the transport within the activity itself. The price for the Mosaic shuttle includes transport to the Event and back to the airport. If you are not renting a car and do not have your own car in the Denver area, then you must register for the Mosaic Shuttle.
NOTE: You cannot use any directions provided on Google Maps or other inline mapping software. It will take you about 3 miles from camp in an endless loop through an old neighborhood! Please follow the directions we will be providing shortly. Stay tuned!
